CHARACTER NAME: Relius Clover
SERIES: BlazBlue
CANON POINT: BlazBlue Continuum Shift II – Carl Clover's storyline.
AGE: Approximately in his late 40s or early 50s, presumed to be over 100+
APPEARANCE: [x] & [x]
PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: N/A
PERSONALITY:
Known to be both a brilliant scientist as well as a heartless fiend, Relius Clover is a complex man who possesses no sympathy for others. He is cold and calculating, a bastard who would easily experiment his own in the pursuit of science. Relius cares very little about the world around him and seems to care even less about the family he once cherished. His cruelty truly seems to know no bounds once the the story regarding the Nox Nyctores Nirvana creation unveils. What father would willingly turn his own daughter into a cold unfeeling machine? Relius' heartless actions certainly would leave many questioning if the man even possesses a beating heart to begin with, but many others would rather question his sanity instead. Relius is a madman, a complete lunatic gifted with sin.
He seems to take joy in the suffering of others and seem utterly incapable of showing compassion even towards his own son, Carl. He is a monster, someone who's clearly evil. However, to simply deem Relius as some sort of evil amoral monster would be a tad unfair. He is so much more than just that. Relius is a man gifted in both the ways of magic and science, a genius with the vast knowledge of the entire universe at his fingertips. His true power doesn't lie within his many destructive creations but rather within his boundless intellect. There's literally nothing Relius cannot do or will not do in the pursuit of glory.
While the truth of his brutal nature is mostly known to all who know of him, Relius doesn't exactly come across as your stereotypical madman. He acts and dresses that of a nobleman, always poised and sophisticated. Given his somewhat fanciful attire and debonair grace, no one would easily suspect him to be the demon that he really is. He could be likened to a wolf in sheep's clothing but definitely not in the same extent as his mock partner/ally, Hazama. Relius doesn't hide his true intentions or feckless disregard for life from anyone, yet he doesn't go out of his way to share his true nature with everyone. He is as tricky as they come, a sly old fox in every sense of the phrase. Relius is both cunning and charming, sophisticated yet wild. He's two contradictions meshed together to form one very unique individual.
While Relius' greatest strength comes from his vast intellect and unrivaled ambition, these strengths can also be his weaknesses. Relius allows his ambition to hinder him from seeing the error in his ways, and his intellect seems to act as a catalyst for all the evil he has done. No one is certain why such an esteemed scientist would turn his own wife and daughter into his personal guinea pigs, but Relius seems to lack morals. His lack of empathy for others is definitely more of a weakness than a strength. He honestly doesn't seem capable of relating with others which might explain his lack of compassion. While no one knows if Relius has always been this way, one could certainly speculate that somewhere down the line that Relius lost a piece of his humanity. Whether it was at the jaws of the Black Beast or caused by previous traumatic event, Relius certainly seems to be possessed by darkness.
ABILITIES:
A number of Relius' abilities coexists with his endless talent for science and magic. He is an unparalleled genius who've managed to merge these two vastly different fields together through his intellect. He has managed to create several weapons through his understanding of technology and ars magus, one such weapon such as the Nox Nyctores Nirvana and the Murakumo Units along with his puppet-like doll, Fluctus Redactum Ignis. While the procedure of how he creates these powerful weapons are virtually unknown, it is suggested that many human souls are necessary in order to create just one Nox Nyctores. Therefore, for Relius to be able to create a powerful Nox Nyctores such as the Nirvana with only using the soul of his own daughter proves his genius despite how sickening his experiments might be.
Other than his capabilities within the laboratory, Relius seems to be capable enough in battle despite being handicapped. His right arm is completely mechanical and with it, Relius can morph his mechanical arm to become larger or smaller in size against his opponents. His speed and strength are slightly above average in comparison to a normal human, but Relius boasts more in combat for his tactics rather than brute strength or agility. His seemingly mental control over Ignis during battle is what makes him truly a force to be reckoned with. Relis can summon Ignis in and out of battle with the mere snap of his fingers. This deadly doll will then commence with several unique attacks that can all but kill man if Relius isn't careful. Ignis' power is almost unrivaled to anyone else in the series and it's clear that Ignis is powerful to both deflect the Nirvana's attacks and capture the powerful mutant beast, Arakune, easily.
It is also assumed that Relius is actually immortal given his lengthy life span. It is uncommon for mere humans to be able to live for hundreds of years, yet Relius seems to be an exception to fact. While any question regarding his supposed immortality has yet to be questioned, Relius certainly seemed to have risen from grave more than twice now in the story. The first time he supposedly “died”, Relius was devoured completely by the Black Beast. Even after his first brush with death, Relius seemed to survive his second encounter even after the Nox Nyctores Nirvana stabbed him through the chest. Whether or not this is proof of his immortality has yet to be known, but Relius definitely seems to be immortal in some way in order to still be alive after all this time.
POSSESSIONS:
Besides his fancy fuchsia cloak, mechanical right arm and his golden mask, Relius doesn't seem to have or need much on his person. He certainly does have a few coins in his pockets but his most prized possession doesn't lie within money or gold. His dear Ignis is perhaps his most prized possession. She was once his cherished wife but now acts as his loyal servant in the form of the doll-like robot. Ignis would most likely be the only accessory he would bring with him, especially since her power is necessary for his survival. Relius would never leave his work of art behind, no matter the situation he finds himself thrust within. The two are absolutely inseparable much like his son's relationship with the Nirvana.

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:
November 15th,
3:30 A.M
Since my arrival to this strange realm, it seems that I've won the chance to study humanity in its most primitive state. In this little "game" it's either kill or be killed. Whether it's the shadows that bump within the night or a fellow companion, the nature of this game calls forth for the subject to kill in order to ensure their survival. Never in my days have I ever seen such a riveting experiment take place without my guidance or interfere. It's somewhat humbling to be considered amongst the lab rats in this game, but the experience is quite thrilling.
Nevertheless, I certainly must find a way to end this game sooner than later. There is much that still needs to be done. The fields of Takamaghara are still out of my grasp and those would-be gods are still in control. I cannot be delayed for too long in my quest, especially considering the end of the Continuum Shift is nearing.
Yet, if such a feat was to take place---I wonder if this world or the next realm would be effected. I suppose I have a new hypothesis to test now; does the decline of one dimension truly effect another?
THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
While many newcomers to this unfortunate game seemed to be filled with endless amounts of anxiety and angst, Relius couldn't help but feel somewhat nonchalant by the whole ordeal. 'I've faced much worse than this in the past' he thought silently as he marched along the dark sands. This was an island of some kind, an island in the middle of nowhere. While he was somewhat vexed at the thought of being yanked away from his goals, Relius couldn't bring himself to show concern regarding his newest plight. The ridiculous message he received before arriving to this bleak realm amused him ore than it frightened him, making him wonder if the ghostly residents of Takamagahara were the ones to blame for his misfortunes now. While he doubted the three entities had anything to do with appearance in this world, Relius couldn't help but wonder if this world held any ties to the dimension from whence he came.
Letting his gaze linger upon the dark horizon, Relius paused briefly once he caught a glimpse of people huddled together within the nearby bushes. They looked damp, soaked even, almost as if they were literally washed ashore by the crashing tides. There were about five of them all together, three men and two women. One of the females looked to be no older than his son, Carl. She was a young beauty, one with deep brown eyes that were laced with fear and dread. The girl was cuddled against the willowy build of a sickly brunette who he assumed to be the girl's mother judging by their similar eyes. While the woman didn't hold the same beauty and youthfulness that her young daughter possessed, she certainly looked quite beautiful in Relius opinion with her sunken, bloodshot eyes and weary gaze. There was something quite intriguing yet perverted about watching the pair. Their limbs seemed to meld around each other, making it seem as if they were one complete entity rather than separate. They were clearly shivering from the cold and using their combine warmth to keep themselves from freezing. To any normal person, such a scene would've been heart wrenching to behold. However, Relius held no compassion to feel sorry for either the young girl or her sickly mother. Instead, he was merely amused by their pitiful display of weakness.
He carelessly walked past the stragglers, not once meeting the gaze of the daughter who watched him with mild intrigue. Relius merely walked past the fearful group, his eyes hidden behind his golden mask. Once he made a few yards or so away from them, a cruel smirk settled upon Relius' lips. Anyone with eyes could figure out quickly that the mother and daughter weren't going to survive till daybreak. So, Relius decided to be somewhat generous and lend the unfortunate duo a helping hand. “Ignis.” He called into the darkness.
“Kill them.”
Within mere moments, a faint glimmer of blue appeared before him before vanishing from his sight. He stood there motionlessly as he heard the rhythmic chopping of flesh and organs splatter about upon the dark sands. The frightful squeals of the beautiful girl rang within his ears as Ignis finished her quickly with her might. This wonderful crescendo of screams were like music to his ears.
